2 Reasons This Weekend Is Special…

This weekend is special. Not just because it’s the weekend (although that always gives me cause to celebrate!) – it’s a special weekend for me for two very important reasons.

Firstly, Sunday is my wedding anniversary, and this year me and my hubby Darren will be celebrating two years of ‘Mr&Mrs–ness’. I don’t know where that time went, but I like to think it’s flown because we’ve been having so much fun
it certainly feels that way. So I wanted to take the opportunity to wish my Mr lots of love on this special weekend. I can’t wait to share more about things in my life through the blog this year, but I’m saving all the juicy bits for another day, as today I’ve got something else to talk about….

It’s the second reason I wanted to tell you more about… this weekend is special because it marks A Whole Lot of Lovely’s first birthday! That’s right, one whole year!

**bring out the cake!!!!**

Well what an adventure it has been! For those of you who’ve been with me from the start, you’ll remember I chose to launch my website and business on the anniversary of my own wedding. You can go right back to my first blog post here if you want to reminisce.

I won’t lie, the first year in business has been hard graft
it’s particularly hard when you’ve got a full time job too that takes up a lot of your time. Despite some long hours over the past year building the foundation of my little empire, I am so glad I took the leap to create something of my own.

My first year in business has taught me so much, and continues to do so. I’ve made new friends, learnt tough lessons, bamboozled my mind with new software and website skills, and I’ve really stepped outside my comfort zone and taken risks to build my little business to where it is today.

One of my favourite bits though has been getting the opportunity to help and work with such amazing people. I’ve helped lots of people create something really special for one of the biggest days of their lives or for a really special celebration. I can honestly say it’s been a pleasure to work with each and every one of you <3.

But I haven’t just enjoyed creating things for people who’ve ordered from me. When I started A Whole Lot of Lovely, I wanted it to be for everyone. That’s why a lot of what I post on my Facebook page isn’t just about me and my business – it’s there for you. To brighten your day, inspire you, put a smile on your face – I like to share a little bit of lovely from all walks of life.

If you’re reading this, I want you to know that all of that is for you. You see, you don’t have to have bought a product from me to be my customer. Of course one day I hope you’ll stop by and buy something from A Whole Lot of Lovely, but I get real pleasure from being able to inspire everyone who reads my blog and engaged with the business on Facebook. Your comments, your likes, when you share something I post
it all means you’ve found some value in it, and that makes me feel… well, really chuffed
 so please don’t stop! :-)

So what’s in store for the next year I hear you ask? Well I am really excited about what’s round the corner. At the minute I am working with some truly inspiring people to help build more free quality content for you to get stuck into. Expect to see lots more inspiring stories, tips from real people who have been exactly where you are, more pretty image inspiration and of course plenty more new designs and products to capture your imagination and treat those you love.

As a HUGE thankyou for all your support over the last year, I have two treats for you lovely lot…

Firstly as a birthday celebration A Whole Lot of Lovely is offering 15% off all stationery orders placed between 17th and 31st of March 2014, for anyone signing up to my A Whole Lot of Lovely email updates. Just use the Code BIRTHDAY when you place your order and sign up for updates using this link.

Secondly, over on A Whole Lot of Lovely’s facebook page I am running a competition to win a fabulous ÂŁ100 voucher to spend on wedding or celebration stationery – head over to my facebook page to find out more, the closing date is 31st March 2014.

If you’re interested in either of my ‘birthday treats’ get involved – you don’t have to be planning a wedding, all designs on the site can be tweaked for birthdays, anniversary celebrations, christenings, hen parties, baby showers
you name it, we can work it out!

If you know someone who’d benefit from this, don’t forget to share this with them using the sharing buttons at the bottom of this post.

All that’s left to say is a massive THANK YOU once again and a big “cheers!” to another year of A Whole Lot of Lovely!

Now let’s have a little champagne cocktail to celebrate! ;-)

Exciting Mail

{Image Credits: Pink Postbox from We Heart It – original source unknown}

When I was a child I loved the excitement of receiving mail through the post! It didn’t happen often, but when it did it was so exciting. I think that it was the pure novelty of recieving a letter to read rather than just hearing those words spoken – and the fact that everyone else seemed to get post all the time! I have a little bit of nostalgia for the way the letters I received were hand written, on pretty paper, or note cards. In an era of emails and social media, that type of mail is unfortunately uncommon.

Now I’m an adult (ok, I suppose now I’m over 30 it’s about time I accepted it), getting mail through the post isn’t really the same. The novelty has certainly worn off now that the average content of what falls onto my door mat generally consists of household bills, charity shop clothes bags, boring looking mail for the previous house owner and takeaway menus.

Today however I was very excited to recieve pretty looking mail, and I was even more excited to open it and find my VIP Paper Girls membership card! Paper-Girls-Montage

Thanks to the very lovely Lucy Ledger and Abigail Warner who continue to support and mentor all of us lucky ladies starting out in stationery design. Big thanks and lots of love to you both – you can find out more about the delightful duo’s business venture on their Paper Girls mini site.

I now plan to go and browse through the fab benefits and discounts I can access through my VIP membership (mini whoop!). I will also be sure to be true to my love of exciting mail and ensure all of my own correspondence is as pretty and exciting as The Paper Girls!

Check back in again soon for my next post where I’ll be sharing some of the pretty pearl inspiration that has influenced several of the recent design collections. Until then, take a look around the site and see what I have to offer – remember if there is something you like and you want it altered to fit a different occasion, I can personalise designs to fit your requirements. See details on how to purchase a sample to order a sample of any design on the site …I promise to make sure that when you recieve my sample through the post, it captures a little of the nostalgia I feel for pretty paper and exciting mail!

A Whole Lot of Lovely Has Arrived…

Hello and a very warm welcome to the first post on A Whole Lot of Lovely’s Blog.

It is with lots of excitement (and a few butterflies) that I am publishing my first ever blog post. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Emma, wife to Darren, step mum to ten year old Taylor, and lover of all things pretty! For those of you who do know me, you will probably have seen a lot less of me recently whilst I’ve been busy creating A Whole Lot of Lovely’s first collection and getting everything up and running. After all this time, the site and blog are finally here and today is a pretty special day…

So, what is it all about I hear you ask? A Whole Lot of Lovely was born from my own experience in preparing for my wedding last year. As any bride will know, whilst planning your own wedding you get thrown into a world full of hundreds of beautiful options – for every little detail of your day there are so many styles and ideas out there to choose from! I had a passion for pretty design that stemmed from my love for art at School and Sixth Form and I found planning my wedding was an opportunity to indulge in beautiful designs once again.

My own wedding stationery was an important part of my day, as I wanted the style of my invitations to represent the type of wedding we had planned and I wanted to get my guests really excited about the day. The lovely Lucy Ledger from Lucy Ledger Designs had really captured what I was looking for in her Vintage Tea Party collection and the stationery suite that Lucy provided for me was perfect. The great experience I had with Lucy and some of my other wedding vendors, along with the enjoyment I’d had from spending time surrounded by design again, inspired me to start creating my own special occasion stationery.

Timing was perfect when Lucy Ledger joined forces with super talented Abigail Warner and created The Paper Girls, offering support and advisory discussion groups for existing and newly forming stationery businesses. Lucy and Abbey have been fantastic and encouraged me to pursue my plans and work hard to set up my own stationery design business – lots of love to them and to my fellow VIP Paper Girls who continue to make the whole process less daunting!

So, cutting a long story short, here I am! I mentioned today was a special day… not only does today mark the first blog post and official launch to my site and business - it felt very fitting that my launch today is actually a year to the day I married my very own Mr Right… much love goes to my very supportive other half who has been a sounding board for lots of my business decisions and designs.

I’m delighted to finally be able to share my designs with you all! A Whole Lot of Lovely is dedicated to pretty, beautiful wedding and special occasion stationery. My initial collection is a vintage inspired wedding stationery collection, featuring pretty pastels and some beautiful pattern work. Each design range in the collection has been inspired by pretty bridal themes. I also take inspiration from things I come across everyday
 jewellery, interior design, nature
if its pretty it may well find its way into A Whole Lot of Lovely in one way or another! Each invitation in my collection is complemented by a full matching stationery suite, which you can view by clicking on each of the invitations on my Wedding Stationery page.

As for the blog, I hope you share with you some of my lovely creations and some of the pretty design inspiration I come across
oh and a few other special creations from some super talented business owners in ‘A Whole Lot of Other Lovely’!

So please favourite the site, and keep reading! Until the next post don’t forget to follow A Whole Lot of Lovely on Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks, enjoy my site
 and lovely to say hello!
